An Exploration of Women’s Gendered Experience

Outdoor experiences are mostly shaped for men or based on men.
This creates all kinds of difficulties especially in the form of sexualization, infantilization, marginalization, and delegitimization of females from all types of outdoor activities. But feminist outdoor journey designs can share power horizontally, acknowledge expressions of domination in space and language, invite participants to participate with their whole, emotional and relational selves, and is attentive to how gender role socialization affects technical skill development and confidence.

With this perspective I am designing and organizing journeys for women.
